19th Annual RI VIP Fishing Tournament (2026)
The RI VIP Fishing Tournament was held on June 26th. The event was another great VIP Fishing Tournament.
The weather was very favorable, and the VIP’s had a decent catch with 90 fish between the 35 VIP’s. It was also very favorable for everyone to hold onto their breakfast!

2026 RILSF VIP Tournament VIP’s & Guides
It was no surprise that the 1st Fish caught was by Janice Musco (Lincoln). The largest Sea Bass was scored by 1st-timer, and youngest VIP, Samantah Mossey (E. Greenwich) and largest Fluke was landed by Dave Cavaco (Warwick) with a close 2nd by guess who, Janice Musco.
Catch scores are based on a point system for species and size, and the prizes for 1st – 3rd place were awarded to:
1st Place $50 (27pts/7 fish) – Janice Musco (Lincoln) (Her 6th time in the top 3!)
2nd Place $25 (25 pts/7 fish) – Richard Levielle (Smithfield) (An impressive 94 year old)
3rd Place $25 (20pts/6 Fish) – Normand Aucoin (No. Kingston)

Honorable mentions go to 4th – 7th places. They are also the backups if any of the top 3 winners cannot attend this year’s post-tourney event.
4th Place (19pts/6 fish) – Don Wherman (Westerly)
5th Place (16pts/5 fish) – Pauline Proulx (W. Warwick)
6th Place (16pts/4 Fish) – Fay Rick (Warwick) & Dave Cavaco (Warwick)
7th Place (15pts/ 5 Fish) – Samantha Mossey (E. Greenwich)
Regarding the post season event, we are working on spending a night on Block Island with dinner, and a half-day of fishing in the morning followed by an awards luncheon. The event will be held in mid-September.
