And thanks to the Hayden Foundation for a very generous donation.
On May 16, 2024, over 30 Lions from various Rhode Island Lions Cubs, in addition to a North Smithfield High School student, packed about 16,000 pairs of eyeglasses to be sent to the New Jersey Lions Eye Glass Recycling Center. There the eyeglass lens powers are measured and then the eyeglasses are catalogued by lens power. They can be shipped to missions that provide eyecare for communities around the world that do not have good eye care.
Thank you to the Sunnyside Restaurant for letting the RILSF use their space for this event and their help with the shipping.
The RILSF and local RI Lions clubs helped with vision pre-screening of preschool, elementary, middle (7th grade), and high school students (9th grade) through out RI.
Over 29,800 students at over 141
schools in RI were screened by the RI Lions Sight Foundation and local RI Lions clubs in the 2023-2024 school year.
2023 National Fishing Tournament
(October 16-18, 2023)
The trip to the National VIP Fishing Tournament on the Outer Banks of NC was very successful.
This year’s team included: Randy LaFountain (EP), Ray Gonsalves (Cranston), Derek Camile (EP) and Joe Bonardi (MA) (Joe is also a RI VIC Club Lion).
There was a three way tie for 1st place. Derek and Randy both came home with 1 st Place Trophies!
Thank you to all who have supported this great experience!
Summer Camp Mauchatea 2023 was a great success! 25 campers enjoyed many activities including an amusement park, sports, swimming, dancing, and a reptile show! A huge thank you to the RILSF for always supporting our blind and visually impaired youth!
Winter Camp Mauchatea was held January 14-16, 2023. This year we started at USA Skates and had an amazing time, skating, playing arcade games and eating pizza. We then headed to the Cape Codder Resort in Cape Cod! All the campers had a blast with swimming, water slides, games and movies. Campers ended the weekend at EP Bowling lanes. They can't wait for summer camp!!!
